Horned Spider Kit

Multipart kit that allows to build 3 variants.

Underside details.

Models sculpted for Mortal Arrow Miniatures range.

HORNED SPIDER kit variant #3

For the 3rd variant I did a wider abdomen.

HORNED SPIDER kit variant #2

The 2nd variant for the spiders kit was a bit bigger and more spiky.

HORNED SPIDER kit variant #1

Earlier this year I did a Spider Kit that allowed for the construction of 3 different Horned Spiders.

Horned Spiders are very diverse and they have short legs, big heads and huge horned abdomens, its almost like a cute jumping spider with spikes on top.

This is the first variant.

Horned Spider concept

Horned spiders are as alien like as they can get and these are the concepts I did and references I used to build up mine.

Ancient trees

I have finished several miniatures but in the background I have been sculpting an ancient tree with all the putty leftovers.

I intend to sculpt 3 more.

Sunday, 11 June 2017

Its time for something different today. I have the tendency for sculpting gigantic Insects or arachnids but now it's the little ones that will invade your dungeon Crawlers. The Beetlings are ready to fight any adventurer toes who dare to enter their hive.

Quick post of the Camel spider I did for Mortal Arrow miniatures and now was painted by Daniel from Field Factory studios with some quite nice realistic colours.

Salute 2017 coverage Part10

Salute is always a pleasure to attend to! I manage to talk with loads of friends, meet new wargamers, collectors, painters, sculptors, potential clients and generally good people.

Every year I do this report and elect the best moments for me but this year I will only elect the best stand or brand that walked the extra mile to spread the hobby.

Regardless of theme or personal preferences if a company manages to convince me that what they have is exciting to get into and I will enjoy my hobby time with them, then I take my hat off. I'm a seasoned old fart and it takes a lot for me to get out of my way miniatures wise. But when I opened Salute's goodie bag, even before entering the expo, and found an amazing miniature with some state of the art plastic sprues I was curious about them.

While checking their stand it was something quite different, there was lots of thought gone into it since it was a  closed stand surrounded with art but still you managed to go inside it with little hassle. There you would find yourself immersed into a strange universe and it did grab you. The miniatures inside glass displays were professional painted and the sculpts themselves are superb. They explained me the universe by pointing to the artwork on the walls and presented me with a hardback 300 full colour page rule book. On the way out you could play some demos too.

So let me get this out of the way, I don't like cowboys fantasy games, its not my thing. Let me rephrase it was not my thing because I'm not sure anymore. I was convinced and exited about something I never thought I would be. They offered me a legendary character a rulebook and a hell of a experience at salute…. and this is why I love the hobby and Salute.

Best of Salute 2017 was Wild West Exodus.

On to Salute 2018.

Salute 2017 coverage Part9

All stands try in some way to lure your attention to them since they want to sell their miniatures, terrain and games. There was couple stands that tried something different and instead of just giving you the goods to buy they also gave you a full experience into their universe. Probably the best stand design on show.

Wild West Exodus

Enclosed inside 4 walls this stand was dangerous because from the moment you entered there you are submersed into miniatures, artwork, game and tables and its really hard to get out. Tight design good walking area you would feel compelled to check it in detail.

Each wall decorated with artwork set the mood.

Inside there was also a demo table.

Its not all show off with no content here… the miniatures ARE spectacular! The paintjobs are amazing too.

This was the free miniature on Salute's goodies bag. Amazing plastic sprues in Legendary Nimue.

If you manage to get outside of this magnetic stand ( I did but only when they gave me a free 300 page rulebook) WOW!!!! There was extra 2 superb demo tables to enjoy the game.

If there was one stand that did it all right this was it.
